INCON, the international partnership of leading conference and association management companies, has organised an international meetings industry seminar on 1-2 February 2018 in Osaka, Japan. The meeting is focusing on the Trends and Practices to win International Meetings. INCON’s new preferred supplier, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) and its department: the Japan Convention Bureau (JCB) have brought together these leading international meeting planners to brief the local meetings industry and government planners and facilitate best practice sharing and skills development.

At the seminar, initiated by INCON Partner JCS, Roslyn McLeod, Founder & Chair of Arinex Australia will guide the group through presentations and a workshop on developing International Bid Strategies. She remarked: "Japan aims to be the leading MICE destination in Asia by 2030, with its successful record of hosting major international association events, INCON and our Partners around the world are keen to work with our Japanese Partners: JNTO and JCB to attract major international conferences".

The seminar also includes presentations with INCON partners from Turkey and the US. Michael Kern, Executive Director, DEKON is bringing his expert perspective on the management of associations run by in-house staff and associations. Carol McGury, Executive Vice President of SmithBucklin and INCON Co-Chair is lending her expertise to the group on the tendencies and trends of North American AMC/associations as well as managing natural disaster impacts on events.

JNTO provides impartial, expertise and advice to incentive tours or associations that are interested in bringing their conferences to Japan. Etsuko Kawasaki, Executive Director of JCB, remarked: "We hope that Japan’s unique culture and advanced technology, together with the opportunity for interaction with Japanese academics and business will inspire associations to come to our country. Equipped with the skills that we have learned at this international seminar we hope to be able to win many more international bids in the future and propel the evolution of science and industry for the world and for our country."

Anyone considering organising an international meeting should refer to all JCB branches.
